Spells are very much the same as a prayer. You are asking for something you need or and answer to a question. It is a way to ask the universe to provide to with what you need or want, but they are mainly used for help.
Anyone can do a spell, you do not need to be wiccan, to be able to preform on, but you do need to be careful as a spell can be dangerous, if done wrong, or without explaining exact intentions. As a wiccan you need to abide, by the rules. Always remember the Rule of Three, which is also know as Karma, and always that your spell should not harm any living thing, animal or human. As a rule I hold for myself which I recommend for everyone to keep in mind, and that is do not mess with free will, in other words no love spells, as they are the most dangerous spell of all, and the love from that person will not be pure.
Spells should also only be used as a last resort, when you have tried every thing possible and nothing works, then do a spell, but make sure that you are clear and that you have the passion behind the spell or it will not work.
When writing a spell there are a few tips and things to remember:
1) Have you tried everything else
2) Be clear in what it is that you are asking
3) Remember the Rules to follow
4) Perform the spell in a place where you will not be disorbed
5) Always cast a protective circle around you and you work place
6) Tools that you would need, eg: candles, crystals, herbs.
7) Try to make the spell rhyme as this helps the flow of energy
8) Which day of the week do I need to cast the spell
9) Which moon phase do I need to cast the spell
10) Which colours do you need that corresponds to the spell
All sorts of spells can be found in books or on websites, but it is always best that you write you own as this will attract more energy to the spell. They can be as simple as just a little saying that is only a few lines long or you can do one that requires a little more detail. But writing your own will give you more control in what it is that you are asking for, and to also work with what you already have in the house.
